We have another giveaway this week offered from Sterling Publishing. A VERY MODEST COTTAGE by Tereasa Surratt is part how-to guide, part scrapbook and memoir of rescuing a century-old log cabin. Surratt takes us on the journey of giving new life to this cabin, from moving it across two states, to uncovering its past lives. Surratt shows you how she achieved her goal of creating a guest cottage in about three months and on a budget around $300. You are there from the beginning, when it is loaded on the trailer, to enjoying all four seasons in the finished cottage.

i have only been there once, but costa rica is my all time fave getaway. my husband and i are hoping to go again one day- we stayed in little bungalows overlooking lakes and mountains and it was just amazing! the local people are friendly, and it is a beautiful place to enjoy the outdoors, fresh food, and spend time with someone you love!

What a lovely book! One of my favorite getaway places are the mountains (anywhere in the world)! That reminds me: I need another vacation!

I spent a year abroad in college, and no place I visited was as relaxing and wonderful as Sicily. Unfortunately, international travel isn't in my budget these days, so I love to live vicariously through the photos of others!

I'm reading this now. It is great.

lake como, specifically Bellagio, has been our favorite vacation thus far. hands down. no competition. i doubt it will ever be beat. what's not to love about mountains, lush gardens, a lake, and palm trees all in one spot!

I love going to a rustic family cabin in the North Georgia mountains or a little condo on St. Simons Island. The change in scenery and the lack of cell phone service makes both places wonderful.

Hawaii is an amazing get away for me. Too bad it is so far away from the East Coast!

What an interesting looking book.

I love to go to the Wine Country of California.
I just haven't been in a long time due to the economy and a medical issue.

I have so many favourite vacation destinations but I would have to say Kauii - beautiful beaches, great hiking trails and you can drive around the whole island - it's that small.

I've never heard of this... hope I win.

Favorite getaway spot- probably Sun Valley, Idaho.

This sounds like such a neat book. It is hard to choose my favorite getaway spot, but one is Lake Oconee in Greensboro, Ga.

Our favorite getaway is usually camping with my family and grandparents.

We like to go to different areas around Iowa and explore what each place has to offer.

Thanks!

Favorite getaway: anywhere. No place in particular... as long as it's away from my everyday norm I'm happy.

Favorite getaway is our cabin at a high mountain lake in Oregon. It is small and compact and everything we need. I often return from a trip there to question why we live in the big house that we do.

Thank you so much for writing this blog. I enjoy looking at the images everyday and have found inspriration in the photos for our renovation.
We have more than one favorite place to visit, first on the list is:
1. Our own home where we can relax and do pretty much all that we want-watch movies, swim at the local pool and grill out. We just are not near the beach nor the mountains.
2. An island community along the gulf coast where we can walk to the beach, swim in the pool in the backyard and walk to a wonderful seafood shack to eat wonderful food and fish in the bay. We just hope that the oil does not damage anymore areas.
3. Hawaii
4. Hopefully our family renovation that is a 1959 ranch that is my husbands original home. We want it to be a vacation spot for us and others when complete. It is only 20 minutes away and so cozy.

Oh what an awesome giveaway! My favorite place to escape to is anywhere with water and sun. For some reason, I always free my mind and forget about all my worries when I'm in such a free and beautiful place.

Looks like a great inspirational book. I love small and quaint. The best getaway I've ever had was to Mendocino, CA. Absolutely breathtaking scenery, and wonderful wine. mmmmm, wishing I was there right now!

My favorite little get away is our family cabin on 10 acres that my dad built by himself!

Well, I wish it was that very modest cottage. But, since I'm not that lucky....I can't wait to return to South Padre Island, TX.

Favorite getaway location: I'm a city gal, so I love Toronto, Canada.

Oh my goodness, I would LOVE this book! We've just bought our first house - a quaint Victorian fixer-upper that we are planning to remodel. I'd love to steal some of her ideas!

One of my favorite getaway locations is Langkawi, an island off the northwest coast of Malaysia (my home country). We honeymooned there (at The Datai - the villas are highly recommended!) and loved the island so much that we returned 4 years later for another short break (and stayed at Bon Ton Resort - I could live there!)

Thank you for a lovely giveaway!

I love this cottage, especially the green and white exterior. It is so similar to the cabins on Peaks Island, ME, our favorite place to go with our kids.
