What a great book! I'm forever yelling at my TV screen when I watch shows on HGTV and they demolish completely good stuff. Things can go on to have a second life with someone's brillance and creativity! If I don't win this, I'm definitely buying it!

We are building a new home and the thought has crossed my mind a jillion times of how to make at least a few decisions thinking of the environment. There are a ton of new energy saving appliances, windows, etc.

My daughters are buying old dining chairs and refinishing them and plan to sell them at the farmer's market. They're doing the work, but I'm providing the cash! Does that count?

I could REALLY use this book! ;)

What BEAUTIFUL pictures you have included on your blog posting. I have a working document in which I cut in paste design blog pictures that I want to "recreate". I copied all three of these in my document. One of my life themes is turning trash into treasure. Why do I even call it trash?...maybe cause others think stuff is trash; it's all treasure to me! Sounds like a great book - please enter me in the drawing! Many items in our house are second-hand from a relative or neighbor, so they've been given a second life in our home. Our "new" farmhouse kitchen table and chairs were purchased at a consigment store. It's not only eco-friendly, but it adds a bit of history/lore to your home.

What a great book! It looks like it's full of wonderful ideas and inspiring pictures. I'm constantly scouring thrift stores and craigslist for things I can repurpose in my home. Old items have so much more character than most of the (affordable) new ones.

Hi there - book looks beautiful! Would love to get a copy and be inspired. I am a big second-hand, furniture re-user and restorer. My most exciting fin recently was a very cute coffee table that my neighbor had placed on the sidewalk with a 'free' sign on it. I snapped it up, went and bought some good quality white paint and got it back to its former glory! It now sits proudly in my living room.

I try to recycle furniture as much as I can - repainting, refinishing, etc. The book looks great!

I just saw this book reviewed yesterday. What a great gift! I find it encouraging that you can find elegance in recyling. Early generations repurposed everything from clothing into quilts and an old farm table used for dining into work tables by adding a longer leg under the original.

We are renovating a 1950's family home and recycling doors, farm tables, going to GW and finding treasures that others don't find useful value in anymore. My favorite places to shop are Consignment Emporium, Inc. for furniture, The Rescue Mission, and Good Will stores and outlet, all in Winston-Salem, NC.

Thank you to you and the publishers for this gift offer.

My favorite thing to do with my free time is comb the local salvage shop and yard sales looking for anything to repurpose or restore. My favorite find was a section of coat rack from an old school house. It has a number beside each hook and is really unique. We use it by the front door to hang our coats. This is an awesome giveaway :)

I love ur blog.. I have Re-purposed many things in my home.. one of my favorite things i have re-purposed are the things that hold the cling blades on to that fan. My parents had a old fan and it stopped working and they got a new one dad was going to throw all of it away. i was like wait.. i could come up with a way to reuse some of these parts.. and I totally did.. the part that held the blade was metal and were they are curved they made the best curtain hang backs... I was pretty stocked... Ill send u a picture.. I dont have one now.. but they look so pretty.

I also would love the book I love to restore things.. :)

Thanks for the give-away! I will certainly purchase this book if I am not the winner ... :) I am always repurposing, reusing or recycling. Many pieces in my home have been found in antique shoppes or second hand stores. I love to reupholster and paint. It all began 20 years ago when I trash picked a small server while walking through the streets in Center City Philadelphia after dinner.

Oh how I would love to have this book. As I sit here and look around, I see an old dining table that turned coffee table that now turned bench. There are the porch posts turned dining table base, and the dresser turned buffet. There is so much more in my house, but there's always room for more. Right?!

Thanks for the opportunity.

Our kitchen cabinets are these beautiful, quaker made, thick oak cabinets. The 70's brown has to go, but I couldn't imagine tossing such craftsmanship in a landfill. So instead of buying new cabinets, I am repainting them. I am halfway done and would love this book to think up my next project.
