Happy Anniversary...

Today's our day (wish we weren't at work). My husband and I celebrate our two year anniversary today. It is hard to believe that time can pass so quickly. We had a wonderful and blessed wedding day, that I would love to do all over again. We love the Lord and thank him for all the blessings in our life.

Shades of Grey...

So it rained all weekend and is a cloudy and rainy Monday. Although it is gray outside, gray interiors are lovely! See for yourself with these homeowners.

Blue Skies...

We are headed off to the lake this weekend. I hope we see more blue skies than the storm. Many prayers for everyone in its path. Happy Weekend!

To Wash & To Fold...

This week I had to catch up on all our laundry. We have a stackable in a small closet (I'm not even sure how it got in there! See image below). So when I came across these images at BHG, I was swooning at the spaces! Don't get me wrong, I feel so blessed to have our own laundry space! A year ago when we were renting we used a coin laundry in the basement of our apartment (that 10 other tenants used as well). It was quite a task to do the laundry; making sure we always had $2.oo in quarters ($1 to wash/dry), and carrying the laundry and detergent up and down two flights of stairs. I look forward to the day of having a 'laundry space', where I can wash, dry, hang, iron, and fold. A girl can dream right. Do you have any horror laundry stories or a dream laundry room ?

Bag It Up...

My sister emailed me this product last week. I think these bags are a great idea! We all want to help the environment by using less plastic bags, but it doesn't seem ideal to carry around a lot of bags. I think this product solves that problem. I plan to invest in some. Has anyone heard of them, have them, or used them?

Remodeled Beginning...

When newleyweds remodeled their mid-century ranch, they received a crash course in green design. The palette of grayish-blue, black, and white was selected to maintain a simple yet stylish aesthetic. They wanted eco-friendly products that were elegant and affordable, so they retained the original red-oak floors and had them refinished with a water-based urethane, chose low-voltage halogen lighting, and appliances with a government Energy Star rating.

The Book Box...

I saw a wooden book box in a local store. It looked to be made of reclaimed wood, and I loved it! I thought, "We can build that" (which meant a project for the hubby). He has all the tools needed, all we needed was the lumber. His parents recently finished building a cabin, and we told them we would like any and all unused wood. We went back home to visit, and gathered some spare lumber; the project was set to build. After a weekend afternoon, am thrilled with my new book holder, and it didn't cost us anything! We had all the tools, used scrap lumber, and leftover paint. I have already placed another order!

House Work...

Whew! We have been busy. We have a basement storage area in our condo (and by basement, I mean dark, cool basement). When we moved in we used the shop vac to clean it top to bottom. Recently our A/C unit was leaking which flooded the floor and the indoor/outdoor carpet in there. Ultimately the A/C unit had to be replaced, ug, and we knew we had to get in there and get that carpet out. Since we had to take everything out to get the carpet out, we decided we wanted to paint the walls white to lighten up the space. The walls are very old brick, so the paint can't cover the walls completely; unless you want to spend days down there painting every little crack. So after an afternoon of work, we are very pleased and proud of the outcome (sorry for the nitty gritty post).

Photo Op...

We are in need of some personal photos on our walls. We haven't hung anything since we painted...2 months ago! I must make time to sit down and figure out the photos we would love to see every day (and that will be a hard decision), and then there is the task of how to arrange them. I like this display: simple, symmetrical, artful. Domino showcased multiple ways to display your photos. But if you would like more inspiration and tips, check out these posts by Simply Seleta, Urban Grace, and Newlywedisms.
