Intermission...

Please excuse the black boxes with exclamation points.
Today I found out that all the images on my blog have been deleted and cannot be undone or restored.
4.5 years of blogging gone in a matter of minutes

I joined google+ the other day and when I clicked on albums I thought it had imported photos from my computer. Little did I know that it was somehow linked to my blog {and Picasa} which apparently stores your images even though all my images are saved on my computer, not there. So I just deleted the albums, which deleted EVERY IMAGE EVER POSTED on the blog without notice, message, or warning.

I am so upset, hurt, mad, sad, pissed, disheartened and dumbfounded that this could and did happen.
:(

I was able to reload the most recent posts but I do not know what to do about the other 1,003 post that are gone. If any one has any suggestions, please let me know.

*Update: Thanks for all your support and sweet comments. I save all my images to my computer and upload them from there, so the original source of the image is my computer. That is why I cannot understand how that happened. I hope this helps any other blogger, using any format, to be aware of what can happen. I hope it does not happen to anyone else.

Oh Megan, I am so so sorry to hear that! You had the BEST images. Unfortunately, you're not the only blogger I've heard this happen to.

I'm not sure if this helps, but you can see at least some of the photos pinned from your blog here:

Megan I feel so desperate for you. I'm trying to think what I can do to help you. All I have to offer are pinterest images. Perhaps an idea is to ask all your readers if they are able to help. Does anyone have any of your blog posts saved? It is an out there suggestion, but You never know what can come of it. So sorry!

Very sorry to read this Megan, what a dreadful thing to happen. Liking Julie's suggestion above - you may at least get some of your photos back.

So sorry this has happened. It stinks that they didn't even warn you. Sometimes was is suppose to make our life easier ends up very hard.
I hope this post gets to somebody at google+ and are able to retrieve something.

Oh, I can't even imagine how you are feeling!

I seem to recall that there is something google has where they preserve historical versions of web sites, day by day. I am not sure if images are saved, though.

It's a cautionary tale about signing up for google plus!

Look forward to reading your future posts and inspirations.

I am so sorry. I have been reading your blog for years, and I know the hard work you have put into it. I will keep my fingers crossed there is something you can do to bring back the images, and if not, that you come to peace with it.

If they were saved on your computer, is there any chance that they are in your trash bin even if they're not on picasa anymore?

I am so sorry to hear about the lost photos. ((hugs)) I love your site and I know you'll continue to find great examples of design and rebuild your collections. Don't give up!

Your right this is unreal! For the very reason you are talking about I have all my photos and important files on an external drive. That way the pictures I use are copies of the ones backed up on the drive. Google + should be able to recover you files if you hurry and let them know before they dump their excess files. PS Also try system restore on your computer to pull delected files. Good Luck, Tonya

Ugh! I am so sorry for your loss of pictures. I love your site and think all the pictures you use are pure eye candy. I am not very tech savvy but I hope there is still a way for you to get all your hard work back. Good luck and hang in there.

Hey Megan! My heart aches for you. I know what you must be going through, because I had a hard drive crash last October and I'm still trying to restore and recreate files today. I had over 6,000 photos stored in my picture files and they were all gone in a blink of an eye. I was devastated. Luckly, my net wiz nephew restored about 80% of my photos and I now have backed them up on an external hard drive. I also have about 120 photos saved from your posts. Let me know if you would like me to send them to you. Bianca

I am so incredibly sorry for what has happened. I saw the images, and really hoped that something sinister hadn't happened to your blog. But this? This is just cr4p. I hope there is a way to get everything back. You completely have my sympathy, and my encouragement to have a pity party (just not for too long!).

Here's hoping to some good news that you can replace the files easily!

p.s. do you back up your computer? I have a Mac and backup using Time Machine. You might be able to restore your computer settings for the Picasa app.

Get a computer guru in there asap. They know stuff we don't know. Meanwhile hoping your images and posts are lurking somewhere in your hard drive as we speak. Call the best person available.

That totally SUCKS!!!!! So sorry to hear that, but thank you for the heads up... :/

I hope you get them back, if not, then consider this a fresh start... easy for me to say, I do realize this, but what else is there to do? We have all been enjoying your blog, so keep up the good work!!!

Oh, and permission granted to have a Pitty Party for sure!

That sucks. Don't worry though we still love your blog even if it is missing some pictures. Next time keep your pictures also on your computer. This way worse case scenario you can replace them.
