Low Country Visit...

In a week we will be visiting the low country. One of my best friends is having a wedding reception on St. Simons island and we are taking a few extra days to visit the low country, stopping by Cumberland Island, Savannah, and Charleston {staying in the historic district in both locations}. If you have been to any of these locations I would love to hear any of the must see, can't miss, got-to-go to places!

This is so very beautiful!!! Reminds me of some old plantation driveway. I would love to have a picnic under those trees!

This is the first time I've visited your site, I linked over from YHL. My husband and I visit Savannah every year for our anniversary and we just got to visit Charleston and Cumberland Island this past summer!
In Savannah- just walking the historic district is beautiful! Go to Riverstreet, it is a really neat area! Our favorite restaurants are Huey's for beignets and shrimp and grits, The Cotton Exchage, and the Crab Shack (on Tybee Island).

In Charleston- Take a carriage ride, it's worth the money! Visit Fort Sumter and eat and Slightly North of Broad!

Cumberland Island is BEAUTFUL! Take you camera! The town of St. Mary's where you catch the ferry doesn't really have much going for it, but we bought a picnic lunch from a local sandwich shop and took the ferry over around noon. The historic tour was really interesting and scenic. When it was over, we just hiked to some other areas. You can also rent bikes if you want to see the more of the island (get off on the fisrt ferry stop to rent bikes), but it was too hot to do that this past summer. Fall would probably be a better time to bike ride!
WOW, I wrote a lot! I hope you have a wonderful trip, I love that area of the South and would move there if I ever could!

Sorry for all of the spelling errors on that comment, that's what I get for typing fast and not proofreading!

I love Charleston! Its beautiful. We stayed at The French Quarter Inn, great hotel. It is so nice to just walk and enjoy the beautiful homes. You must walk down to the Battery Park. One place we ate that we really enjoyed was SNOB (Slightly North of Broad) It was great.
Have fun, this is nice time of year to visit, no humidity.

I just LOVE the low country!! We got married in Charleston --I highly recommend Two Meeting Street Inn (although tough for a 1 night stay..usually requires more on a wkend). Also, The Planter's Inn or Charleston Place Hotel. Hank's was a favorite place to eat!! Have fun!
