Gone Green...

The Atlanta Homes & Lifestyles 2009 Cashiers, NC designer showhouse had a 'green' theme, with all the rooms having eco-friendly design ideas. I think this sitting room above might be my favorite with its pops of yellow, lucite tables, nailhead trimmed settee and wine bottle decor. You can see all the fabulous rooms here.

The designs are heavy on the wood. Even though the rooms are beautiful, I am surprised by the lack of variety in materials. There are a lot of options to choose from today from carpets made from recylced materials to grass wallpapers to cement countertops...I'm surprised more of that isn't on display?

I actually love the warmth of all of the natural wood. It is quiet refreshing since more and more people are becoming afraid of the raw material look.
They kept it modern with the selection of fabrics, use of accent lighting, and choice of furnishings.

I saw the Showhouse last year. It was quite charming. I hope to go again this year.

These design ideas are wonderful but I am most fascinated by the beautiful wood work especially on the ceilings.
