Reading Light...

If I read in bed, I have to keep our overhead light on to have enough light. Our bedroom is on the small side, so we only have our bed, dressers, side chair, and laundry basket {think 1920's condo in Atlanta}. While reading the other night I was wondering if I would rather have wall mounted sconces or bedside lamps? Clearly both have advantages and disadvantages and give a different look, do you have a preference? Do you have sconces or lamps or both {or neither like me}?

I think the sconces would work great because you wouldn't lose any extra space to a bedside table. They would also take up less space visually than a big lamp next to the bed.

I usually prefer table lamps. Just in case you decide to move the bed around (if you have the space to do so). But I do like the scones in the third pic. They look really nice.

we do lamps because we have the space. I n a small space I think sconces look fabulous.

I'm more of a table lamp person. Like The Design Notebook said, it's much easier if you tend to move your furniture often (which I do). But it all depends on your lifestyle, I think! The scones do look lovely.

I have tall lamps that provide a lot of light for reading but sconces always look beautiful. Love all of these bedrooms(except maybe the last one)!

That bed with the yellow & white headboard is so lovely. I want to lay in it and not get up for a week.

If you don't want to commit to installing sconces and don't have side tables, you could use floor lamps. While not the usual solution, I have seen them used beautifully. They were swing arm, adjustable types.

I really love the look of sconces better, but then lamps you can take with...it is hard to know!

Love the second mastre bedroom, it looks so cozy and warm. And I think that lamps are more practical.

All the bedroom pictures are beautiful. I prefer sconces if you a certain your bed will be staying in its current location. I have one with an extendable arm. I love that I can pull it closer if I want a lot of light, or push it back for just a little light.

Such great photos! Love the second one. I prefer a lamp on my nighstand. Overhead lighting can be harsh, not sure if sconces would give enough light to read by. I bet you will see something and just fall in love with it.

So cool that you posted this today, I actually just bought a pair of vintage milk glass sconces at an antique store today!! Not sure if they work with my huge padded headboard.
I have always had table lamps, but sconces are really cute too, especially if you don't have a lot of room.
