Today I am happy to be a part of an awesome giveaway! When DuPont contacted me to introduce their new {free} mySurface iPhone application which allows users to quickly search for Corian® and Zodiaq® colors by hue, providing the user with a color swatch filling the screen, along with information on how to order a sample. DuPont offered to send me a complimentary iTouch to download the free mySurface app to experience it firsthand and to give feedback; I happily accepted!After receiving the iTouch a few days later, it was easy to find and download the mySurface app {as I am not a iPhone/iTouch user previous to this}. I was impressed; as a designer that has worked in both the commercial and currently the residential field, I feel the mySurface app is a tool that can and will be used by designers, architects, contractors, and home owners. I currently have Corian countertops in my kitchen and was happy to find that the colors match perfectly from the iTouch to the actual product.

Hi!!! Thanks for the giveaway! I am a longtime coveter of the iTouch and would love to get my hot little hands on one. It would be nice to have an app that easily helps you figure out placement for pictures, shelves, etc on walls. Something where you enter your measurements and it spits back ideas for arranging/hanging.
Wow! That's awesome. I don't have an iphone or itouch, but I've heard about an app called "What the Font"... you can take a picture of text and it will tell you what font it is. I think that could be awesome we you are wanting to recreate something you see in a store!

The app I would love to see is a finish reader. You could take a picture of a finish on a piece of furniture (paint, stain, etc) and it would tell you what products you would need to recreate it. Not sure if that would ever work but like the idea of it since I am always seeing cool finishes and wondering how the heck they accomplished them.

What a giveaway!!! I stalk my husband and when he sets his itouch down I grab it! They are the most amazing source of fun and information. I would love to have my own. I would use an application that would help room layouts and wall design.
this is A-W-E-S-O-M-E! i would love to have an app that would help you plug in the dimensions of any room you'd want to decorate, so you can figure out furniture placement. It would be neat to see how different wall applications would look (i.e. wainscoting); it could show you an image of the final product. Thanks for this opportunity!

Goodness, what an awesome giveaway! As I don't own an iTouch (but would love to...Apple rocks as does super-organisation!) I have to admit I'm not familiar with most apps. But I'd heard about the mySurface app via another blog and thought it would be the coolest thing to have when we finally buy our own house and get to choose our own paint colors...
PS Now that you have your own iTouch, do check out the Feather app from Lil Bee...it's such a genius idea!

I don't own any kind of iphone, itouch, ipod, etc, so I'm not sure what apps are out there . . . but I'd love an app that would help with price comparisons.
I would like to see an App that tells you what kind of paint you can use to paint on thift store furniture finds. For instance, if I found a pair of brass candlesticks, what types of paint can I use and what looks can I achieve? What about on an old ugly ceramic lamp? Oh, and it would include pictures for inspriation. Several times I have not made a purchase b/c I am not sure what a "re-finishing" project would entail. I know you can get this info at the local hardware superstores, but it would be so nice to have the handy App to have with me at all times!

I am officially now a blogger. I would love to have an application that you could do story boards/decor boards on. Maybe save images of your fabrics, paint colors, etc so that they are always at your finger tips.

Oh I'd so love an iTouch! I don't have one yet so I'm not familiar with the apps, but how awesome would it be to create an app that is a level or a stud finder! :P (I'm sure we have quite a ways to go before that's possible!)

great!!in my opinion, i think if MySurface would add in some features e.g. can access online to search for the price range, it would be much better. At least the consumer can make a budget out of it.

I think a cool app would be one that allows you to design a room — it’s a pretty simple idea, but it would be especially cool with the finger motions you can do with the iPod Touch. You could input the dimensions of the room, and then edit it’s shape if necessary. Then there would be a library of furniture, paint colors, rugs, decorations, etc, that you could play around with. Fun! It would be even better if you could take a picture and move your own furniture around in the picture, but I don't know how possible that would be... :)

Yes, I too would like an app that matched a colour with a Benjamin Moore paint (this may already exist) or even better might tell you the source of a fabric you see (kind of like CSI does for criminals)

I think having an app to exactly match paint would be GREAT to have! We've struggled with matching a red color here and it would be so much easier to have an easy app for that.

I am a huge fan of your blog! I am graduating university and moving to a new city and getting a new apartment so an application that allowed you to take a picture of a room and try different paint colors would be perfect. Plus I don't even own a cell so this would be a huge treat!

I don't have an Iphone, but I think an application where you can type in the measurements of a room and it will tell you how much paint you need, the amount of flooring required, etc. would be helpful!

I want an App, where you can create your room in 3D, with all the right measurements and eyerything. And where you can put in all of the furniture you already got.
When you're in a furniture shop like IKEA, you can take a picture of a chair for example and try out how it will look in your room, if it fits your style, etc...
That would be the perfect app for me!

The mysurface.app sounds amazing! I think an app that did floor plans to arrange furniture or see if a particular piece would fit while you are out shopping vs. having to go home to measure!

hm, I need this phone!! I think a cool app would be like a vintage or furniture store/ yard sale finder that would search nearby your current location. The Garmin gps sends me to places all the time that are closed! It doesn't have photos or hardly any info so that's where the app could really shine!

I am not a user of iPhone (I would love to have on though, but it is not in my budget atm), but I think the maps would be the best thing!
An app that shows plans for how to build pieces of furniture (benches, tables, desks, etc.) with different styles to pick from. It would include all the materials needed to build it, and step-by-step instructions for assembly.

I would love an app that would mow my yard. Seriously though, an app that my wife can send me her "honeydo" list for me to view upcoming projects she wants me to do would be nice. It seems she always has some project up her sleeve that I dont know about but am expected to help with.

oh...about my idea, i would think that if you can snap a photo (i know that iTouch can't do that but maybe in iPhone) and MySurface can simply just search through the database for the match, then it would be much perfect!! Then we won't have to do this manually browsing through all for the match.
