New Living...

I would have to agree with House Beautiful; there is a new form of the 'living room'...the outdoor room. Being outdoors doesn't have to mean picnic tables, folding chairs, and umbrellas {although I enjoy these, as well as, a good porch swing}. Today's outdoor rooms have stylish and comfortable furniture, draperies, fireplaces, and even chandeliers!

What a beautiful collection of images! he one downside of outdoor rooms is that they can block the light from the inside rooms. My favorite is an outdoor room that is truly outdoors - this can be a challenge in mosquito infested areas like Atlanta!

I agree too! That second pic may be my favorite for the pops of color and the all white one is just lovely.

My favorite part of my home is my outdoor rooms. I hope to share them soon if my husband ever hangs the new light fixture.

When the world around me sleeps I love to tiptoe out & listen to the quiet, with only a flickering candle as company. Its magical.

We have a screened porch on the back of our house that becomes our main living space during the warm months. It's such a great place to enjoy the outdoors, yet not have to deal with pesky bugs!

Lovely images! It is so blasted hot here now, that you can't use the outside rooms...comfortably.

Am I whining? That sounded like whining.

I love that outside feelin... My builder couldn't understand why I wanted screens on ALL my windows? I said "because I open them and let the outside in silly man"...
My biggest regret was not screening in the back deck (which we are finally doing this month)... but our favorite place is our 10' wide wrap-a-round font porch, with the swing and wicker furniture. Its always looked live on, and was.

My screened off porch is as big as our large livingroom, and is actually USED as our livingroom! And in this heat, as our bedroom, too. :p It doesn't look quite as nice as these, though!
