Like most, my sister and her husband have a 'to-do' list for their new home, and the kitchen is on there. Although it may not be the first thing on their list, it will probably be one the biggest projects. They have already decided the cabinet color, so that is one item they can check off. The next item would be the ceiling, which unfortunately is a popcorn ceiling. But we think we found the solution while watching a makeover show on HGTV that covered a popcorn ceiling with beadboard. Thoughts, ideas, suggestions? We want to hear it!

Love all the light fixtures here! I keep thinking I'm going to get tired of ribbed glass prismatic pendant fixtures, but I haven't. Just ordered a STUNNING pair from Urban Archaeology for a client. I'm having them shipped to my office and I'm stalking the UPS guy, it's going to be like Christmas when they finally show up!
I do not think I have ever left a comment but I stalk every day :)
I was just going to comment on the popcorn ceilings. My husband and I bought a house last year and every room in the house had popcorn ceilings. So here is my advice: do this before you put anything in the house, it is a MESS! The method we used was just to put water in a sprayer and spray small areas at a time. You do not want to soak but just enough water, then scrape with metal big putty painter scrapers. Every room in our house was different. Some came down so easy in sheets, but others were a pain and the ceilings took a beating. So if you have any more questions please feel free to email me! It was work but the end result was totally worth it. If they dont do it before they move in it will never get done bc it is so messy! Sorry for the long comment!
The beadboard is a lovely idea. And some nice lighting would look great too.
my first time commenting as well, but I read your blog daily! We did beadboard on our old, uneven, plaster ceiling when we recently remodeled our kitchen and it is BEAUTIFUL! It is one of the first things people compliment us on! Karin

I expected to have a big stove in the kitchen with a huge space, now I am really happy because I can cook every kind of recipe in my huge stove. I really love it.
