Faux or No...

When I saw this guy, I thought he was cute. How do you feel about faux animals in home decor?

I would suppose in the right setting and in the right room,
it can work.
What about the real thing?

I think the first six could definitely look chic in the right kind of space. But the 7th is a little to real looking for me. I'd think he was always staring at me:)

I think it depends on the people and the home. I think it looks great in my aunt's family room, but I would never do it.

Oh no! I'm afraid I cannot stand embalmed animals, faux or not. I do love all the rooms you picked but without the animals please! :)

sometimes yes...sometimes no. Seeing almost too many of the wood or fake ones. I don't have a prob with just the horn (as in a chandelelier of sconce) Because elk and sheep shed there horn each year (or more?) But looking at a once live animal in the eye is not my cuppa tea whatsoever. So, Not in my casa.

Blech. I don't care for the real or the faux animal heads. My father hunted a dall sheep in Alaska years ago, and that awful mounted head was on the living room wall for years until my mother finally relegated it to the garage. I couldn't handle having something like that in any room in my house.

I appreciate someone going to the effort to use a faux animal head instead of the real thing, but I just don't care for it as an item of decoration.

The real ones completely freak me out in someone's house, but I have been to restaurants (I guess that sounds creepy) that have them and it doesn't bother me so much.
I can't see them in my house, but I guess if they're in the right house they'd be okay? LOL. I'm trying. Definitely not faux though.

No, there are too many other beautiful things to hang on the wall...original art, antique prints, sconces, mirrors. I cringe every time I see a fake or real animal head.

I think that the faux animal heads are not attractive when they are realistic. However, when they are abstracted and become more sculptural I think they look neat.

As for the real thing, I feel creeped out when they are stuffed, and have eyes that seem to watch you no matter where you are in the room. Antlers and skulls are a lot more appealing, because I don't look at them and see a hunting trophy, I see a natural wonder. I like the last photo!

I happen to like both, but the room really dictates which one is the better fit. Of course, many of the faux ones are made poorly..so if you want the best of both worlds, try to find a head carved from wood and then painted that has "range dropped" antlers mounted on it. This is what they used to do back in the 1700's.

hmmmm, no thank you! :-) I'm not an animal activist or anything but something about hanging thier heads on the walls is just cruel faux or not!
